If you fail to submit a valid Certificate of Conformity (COC) for any gas installations on your property, your insurance provider will likely deny your claim in the event of fire damage. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We need to inspect your installation and conduct a pressure test to check that all regulations have been complied with. If so, a COC can cost as little as R950. If the installation is not compliant we will explain to you what the issues are and give you an itemised quotation before we do any work.

The regulations governing gas installations in South Africa are set by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), the Liquified Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa (LPGSASA), and the Department of Labour. The regulations are contained in SANS 10087-1 of 2013. Read about some of the key regulations in our latest blog.

LP Gas is a highly flammable gas which is stored and transported under pressure, which means that there are inherent dangers associated with incorrect installations. Legislation requires all installations to be performed by a suitably qualified and authorised  person who has been trained to carry out installations according to the legal requirements.

A better question would be: “Am I prepared to have my insurance company refuse to pay out or even to lose a loved one in case of an accident caused by an illegal DIY gas installation for the sake of saving a small amount of money?”

Read more about this in our blog article about the legal aspects of COCs.
